5 Reasons to hire a videographer
Unless you find yourself as Ashton Kutcher or Cameron Diaz in the movie What Happens In Vegas, chances are you will be making a lot of decisions surrounding your wedding day. The flowers. The kind of flowers. The colors of those kind of flowers. Every decision opens a door to three more. It might not be bad at first, but then add the mother/mother-in-law. I talk to brides and grooms all the time that are faced with the decision of whether or not they can afford a videographer. In a dream world, they have the video, photo, meals, venue. While demand for video is increasing, a wedding video is often one of those options that get cut or cut short. So, if you’re still unsure of why you need need a videographer, let me give you 5.
When the best-man gives a toast, you’ll hear the jokes, you’ll see the tears, and it will transport you back to that moment. You see the awkward groom dancing. The grandma and grandpa on the floor moving like their 20 years young. If you share vows, those moment will live on forever. You’ll hear your spouse deliver those words and look into your eyes. A wedding is a happy day that often brings those we are close with together and in an environment filled with love. Words aren’t present on a photo. You don’t hear music with a picture.
I hear from couples all the time that go back and watch their wedding video on the anniversary. Video has such a strong way of transporting us back to a certain time. It’s a movie about yourself and the love you felt for your spouse.
Photos are great, but for those not present to your wedding, that only says a few things about your day. What you wear, your flowers, the venue. There’s a reason people attend weddings and that’s because there is something about being present in the moment. A close second is to see a recording that really illustrates the emotions, words and beauty of your big day. With the increase of social media, one commitment I have is to always provide the couple with a short teaser to share with those that were unable to attend. This happens within 2 days of their wedding. What better way to include those living far away or occupied with other obligations?
There is a ton going on during a wedding day. In addition to a photographer, a videographer can also capture additional moments of a niece stuffing her face with 5 cookies at the reception or Uncle Leo dancing in the corner with his wife. Your entire day is spent looking through your eyes. Give yourself a chance to step back and watch it through the eyes of a videographer.
How would you love to see a video of your parents wedding day? How they interacted with each other? I know I would! A wedding film will now be able to be passed down to your children, their children and more. Not only will they be able to see you, but also all of the family present on your special day. If all goes well, you’ll only be married once. How awesome is it to document and preserve those moments for all to see via video?
I know I am biased. But when putting these reasons on a list, sometimes I question why the first thing on a bride and grooms list of wedding to-do’s isn’t “Hire a videographer.”
